It may have been the birthplace of both ice hockey, but Canada’s influence on how you spend your free time is probably limited to some sports, Rust Never Sleeps, and a David Cronenberg movie. That, however, is all set to (possibly) change with this review of Doghouse Digital, one of Canada’s leading pornographic production company’s’ flagship websites. Hosting a bunch of hardcore fucking that features Canucks and non-Canucks alike, there’s a lot to love about this gift from our northern neighbors, but, like most things Canadian, there are also a couple of niggling issues that need sorting out.

Intro:

Doghouse Digital makes its home on the Pornstar Network of 56 hardcore websites and, as it offers a fairly mixed bag of adult shenanigans, there’s bound to be some stylistic crossover. Will Doghouse’s Canadian heritage make it unique enough to stand apart from the rest of the network or is this just another case of the little dog trying to horn in on the big dog’s yard? Will I roll out more ridiculous dog analogies? Don’t you just wanna get to “the good shit”?

Pros:
- With 235 scenes and, well, only 11 image galleries, there’s a pretty decent archive of content online here at Doghouse Digital. You’re not about to completely run out of Doghouse material anytime soon, even with ‘the update problem’ currently plaguing the site. Sure, there could stand to be more photo galleries, but the real focus here has always been on video content and there’s lots of it.

- It’s nice to see a country as oft neglected as Canada finally gets it’s due in the porn world. There’s even a nice mix of amateur and professional Canadian performers showcased at Doghouse Digital, including Peter North, Anastasia Devine, and Cute Angie, to name but a few. This all adds to the identifiably Canadian slant exuded by everything Doghouse produces.

- Your Doghouse Digital membership also snags you complete access to the rest of the Pornstar Network, home to such hardcore porn vendors as Big Wet Asses, I Want Latina, Club Peter North, Hardcore Fiesta, and the solo sites of Christine Young, Cherry Potter, Busty Christy, and Annie Berry among others. With a total of 56 websites accessible, you’re bound to find plenty to see and do here.

Cons:
- The worst has come to pass. No, 30 Rock hasn’t been cancelled and The Drive-By Truckers haven’t broken up, Doghouse Digital has stopped updating with new content. That’s right, downtrodden porn fans, you’ve got yet another justifiable reason to grumble. The last new arrival on Doghouse’s homepage was way back in May of 2008 – that’s nearly two whole years ago!

- Like the updates, video and image quality seems stuck in the past. Videos only reach a maximum resolution of 720x480 pixels and often look dull and dreary. Photos hit the similarly disappointing 800x600 resolution and could definitely do with some embiggening, as could the videos.

- Doghouse Digital made a strong first impression with its delightfully tour pages that sported unique designs and made strong mention of the company’s Canadian heritage. All that is lost once you’re inside the members’ area, which, just like every other site on the Pornstar Network, sports a rudimentary, generic page design that completely lacks character.

- Possibly due to the increasingly dated content, Doghouse’s whole online production seems shaky and out of touch with current porno trends and technological developments, causing the scenes to appear much more amateurish than they probably did upon launch. The camera styles seem underdeveloped and the costumes, colors, makeup, and hair all look like they should be featured on five-year-old episodes of Passions, not a cutting edge (albeit Canadian) pornsite.

Conclusion:
Doghouse Digital charges $19.95 per month for full members’ only access, with which you also get access to the 56-site Pornstar Network. “Is this a good deal?” That’s the question you’re asking right now and I, Mr. Pink, am here to tell you that, yes, it is a good deal. Unfortunately, though, it’s a good deal almost solely because there’s twenty-dollars worth of sexertainment on the Pornstar Network. Doghouse Digital would be a worthwhile site in its own right if it were updating at all, let alone weekly, and if the video and photo content were of a higher technical and artistic quality. It’s nice to see Canada represented in the porn world, but I’m sure Canucks everywhere agree that their homeland isn’t exactly presented as a potential top dog of the industry here at Doghouse Digital
