Falcon Studios review

For a ridiculously long time now, homosexual Americans has been struggling to obtain rights equal to heterosexuals - the right to be open about their sexuality, the right to a state-sanctioned marriage, the right to not have their gay icons  automatically offered as movie roles to James Franco, and the right to have a pornography industry equal in artistic merit and commercial success to the heterosexual porn industry. While most of these issues can be argued in a court of law (or on the phone at James Franco’s agent’s villa in Saint-Estèphe), the porn problem must be fought tooth and nail in the retail market. Thankfully, with a studio like Falcon Entertainment on their side, the porn-loving homosexual community are well on their way to having a paragon of explicit adult entertainment that will rival Vivid, Hustler and Elegant Angel for artistic and commercial success. With the Falcon Studios website, Falcon Entertainment now comes directly to you, the stuck-at-home-on-a-lonely-Thursday-evening gay man looking for a way to while away the hours until sleep finally, graciously sets in. Hosting an absolute cavalcade of hardcore gay porn movies, Falcon Studios probably deserves its standard $29.95 monthly membership price tag, but wouldn't it be even sweeter with a 50% off price tag courtesy of Mr. Pink? Why don’t we find out for sure?

Pros:
Falcon Studios is the gay equivalent of Vivid or Elegant Angel, but their productions aren’t the only ones you’ll find here. Mustang, Jocks, and Str8Men’s productions are also featured here, as are selections from Falcon Internation, the international wing of Falcon Entertainment.

There’s quite a large collection of DVDs online here at Falcon Studios - over 300 of them, in fact. Even more impressive is the surprisingly huge collection of over 1,500 photo galleries that show the hunky Falcon men in all their naked, sweaty, hardcore glory. New content is added every day, so there’s always some action going on here.

Videos are presented in three streaming options, all of them in Flash format. They look good, to be sure, and shouldn’t bother you with too many artifacts or gross pixilated scenes. The highest quality stream, an HD one, hits 960x576 pixels and presents the scene in a very pleasing fashion.

Falcon Studios is a very cleanly designed website that looks slick and modern. It is also very easy to browse thanks to a solid navigation system that includes a full model index, update listing, DVD catalogue, and favorites system so you can keep tabs on your preferred scenes and titles.

Cons:
None of the content featured on the Falcon Studios website is exclusive, online or off. Falcon Entertainment’s DVDs can be purchased from retail outlets and online stores, and their scenes may be found on other sites, as can those from the other featured production houses.

Although some High Definition video content is online, it is dwarfed by the collection of Standard Definition material. Only 38 of the sites 320-odd DVDs feature any HD footage; the rest looking far less impressive.

Not a single video is available for download here at Falcon Studios. That’s right, hoarders, this site offers video content in only one form: streaming. You won’t be saving anything but hard drive space at Falcon Studios.

Although primarily advertised as a DVD download site, Falcon Studios’ video archive is shamed by the huge collection of photo galleries. At more than five times the size of the DVD collection, these galleries make up a huge chunk of the site’s content and, although certainly pleasing to photo fans, will no doubt disappoint those who came for the videos.

Conclusion:
With a prominence in the gay porn industry with very few real rivals, a website for noted production company Falcon Studios should have been a home run. Instead, it is something like a fly ball - the potential is there but it could easily go either way, ending up a huge success or a disappointing failure. With a slick design, solid navigation, and stable of great performers, a sturdy base is built. That base seems to have been trampled on, though, not used as a platform for excellence. A complete lack of downloadable video content is one of the more striking grievances members might have, as well as minimal HD video content, a lack of exclusivity, and the disparity between the number of photo galleries and the DVD collection - the former being over five times larger. Perhaps the daily updates should be more evenhanded or, just maybe, arrive multiple times a day and in downloadable formats; that might bring Falcon Studios to a more acceptable state.
