Inside the Fire Girls members’ area, newcomers will no doubt find themselves a little confused, at least initially. As everything seems to be maintained by Mr. Firestone, we shouldn’t expect a thoroughly modern and exciting web design on Fire Girls, and, as suspected, members are instead treated instead to a homemade, yet workable, website. As the design leaves a bit to be desired, so too does the navigation system. You’re not left wanting options, though; in fact, you might find the number of advertized destinations a little too plentiful. The left hand side of the main members’ page gives you a ton of links to check out, all split into the following subheadings: Things To See (movies, photos, erotic art, interactive images et al.), Things To Read (news, mail bag, erotic fiction, comics and model bios), Things To Hear (audio interviews and sexually explicit sounds), Things To Do (feedback, surveys and games), Things To Buy, and Places To Go. With around 25 links in the menu, your mouse hand sure has its work cut out for it. The rest of the main page is occupied by details of the latest updates, new website features, interesting new articles and news stories, and information regarding Fair Ones, a softcore modeling site featuring young amateurs that is free to all Fire Girls members.

Most people will invariably decide to head straight for the photos and videos Alex Firestone has put on his site and, after a few mouse clicks, they’ll find that there are about 110 movies and slightly less photo galleries now online. Updates to the main photo/video archive seem to have ground to a halt over a year ago. Maybe Alex had some other priority in life, I don’t know. Whatever the reason, the only stuff that has been added to the site recently falls under the banner of Erotic Art and News. The way the movies are placed on the site is also somewhat strange. Each content list (movies or photos) provides you with a number of “Galleries”, each containing anywhere from two to fifteen sub-galleries (what most people would consider content items). The photo content almost always depicts one girl modeling and showing off her wicked bod, enjoying the pleasures of another female body, or getting fucked by Alex (that lucky bastard). Movies, too, tend to show pretty similar kinds of content. There are some truly odd episodes, though – Alex testing out a number of sexual aids is pretty interesting and unintentionally amusing. It seems Fire Girls might just have a pretty strong female following, as Alex tends to make content that could appeal to both sexes, not just horny hetero men.

Videos are available in MPEG, WMV, and DIVX formats, with resolutions ranging from 320x240 to 352x240 – not very impressive, I know. Not all scenes are available in full-length versions, either, which makes downloading the whole thing a little frustrating. Photo galleries suffer from similar problems, but with resolutions of 1000x1000 pixels (although older ones aren’t as hi-res) and better-than-average photography, you’re more likely to ignore problems of repetition, lack of inventiveness, and some not-so-attractive models. Zip archives are available for most galleries, as are automated slideshows, which certainly helps the viewing process.

The rest of the Fire Girls content would lead you to believe that this site is the thinking man’s porn site. You’ll find articles on how to stimulate your lady’s g-spot and make your cock appear longer, and some common misconceptions about both genders. Other extras include galleries that feature examples of the ancient erotic art of Pompeii, contemporary erotic paintings, and even sci-fi comics that revolve around lesbian aliens. - Fire Girls doesn’t just host pics and vids; there’s all kinds of stuff online here.

- The model interview/biography pages are fantastic reads.

Cons:
- The site’s navigation system and page design could use a lot of work.

- Photo/Video Updates haven’t arrived too frequently in the recent past. In fact, 2009 has been a pretty dismal year for the main content archive.

- There’s not a whole lot of video/photo content on the site. Well, not when you just count the main stuff, anyway.

- Video quality is in dire need of an upgrade.

Conclusion:
You certainly can’t fault a guy for trying something new. Alex Firestone made a bold effort to create an adult website that not only titillates, but educates and enlightens too! How many pornographers can claim to have done that? There are, however, quite a few problems that need addressing. (As mentioned on his Twitter page, Alex recently suffered a minor stroke and is in the process of recovering, so we can’t be too hard on him.) Fire Girls may start out as a thoroughly entertaining and arousing site – what with the galleries and movies of hot amateur girls, and the member-produced home videos – but that wears off after you realize how infrequently the main content archive updates these days. Alex desperately needs to get back in the game and make some big changes, especially to the video quality and resolution options, as well as completely redesign the site’s look and navigation system. Once those tasks have been accomplished and updates are back on the agenda, Fire Girls will be a surefire winner and one of the best and most unique personal sites of a pornographer currently in ‘the biz’.
