Overview:
A Day Without a Mexican, a 2004 film directed by Sergio Arau, detailed what would transpire should every Mexican in the state of California suddenly disappeared. Cars lie abandoned in emptied streets, spouses disappear from their beds, ripe produce goes unpicked, Hollywood mansions get dirtier and dirtier… In short, chaos reigns. What this film failed to touch upon, however, is something that would be of major concern to me should the unthinkable ever happen and latinos y latinas vanished from the Golden State; who would I stare at on public transport? Let’s face it, white chicks are great, as are black girls and Asians, but in the civil war between gorgeous women of all ethnicities, latinas are Ulysses S. Grant.

While the I Want Latina tour page is a great example of how to design a website based on the content it provides - it looks tropical, folks - the members' area is nowhere near as exciting. As I Want Latina is part of the Pornstar Network, the members' area is pretty much identical to almost all of the other 56 Pornstar sites (which I'll get to a little later). The front page this particular Latin-centric site doesn't give much away but still holds quite a few useful navigational tools. At the very top of this page are a few buttons that link you back to the Pornstar Network index, with some menu buttons sitting just below. The menu points you to Home, Videos, Pictures, Pornstars, Studios, DVDs, Sites, Live, Reviews, Dating, Store, and Twitter - in short, every remotely useful part of the network. The 16 latest I Want Latina videos are shown further down the page, next to some user-end features that allow you to let the webmasters know how you feel about the site, send a link to a friend, report errors, and the like. Getting straight into the content is a simple process. All you have to do is decide whether you want to check out some videos or photos, then click the corresponding menu button. Maybe I'm obsessive compulsive (or just boring), but I always prefer to take a look at whichever content type is listed first; in this case it's the archive of 265 videos.

The video index page is not really a page in and of itself, but a slice of the main I Want Latina page, which is itself a slice of the Pornstar Network. It is not a lavish affair, opting for only a dozen or so preview pictures, with run time, performer information, star rating, number of views, and approximate date of upload accompanying each. New videos seem to arrive quite erratically. The last update was made two months ago and even before that updates seemed to be sluggish and unpredictable. With no hint of anything new on the horizon, new members will definitely start to wonder whether signing up was a good idea. After perusing your options and choosing a scene, you'll be shown to a page that gives a bit more information on the scene. Also on hand, though, is a button link to a gallery of screencap images that all reach a resolution of 720x480 pixels and generally look quite grainy and somewhat distorted, which is surely the result of using a low-end digital video camera. Unless you're a hardcore devotee of the still pornographic image, there's not much point in bothering with these screencaps as there is better quality and more excitement to be found in both the video and photo material.

I Want Latina’s videos come in a number of formats and resolutions, including a streaming Flash vid that looks pretty good without being stunning, and a handful of downloadable options. Full-length downloads are offered in WMV and MPEG form, hitting 720x480 pixels and bit rates of 2000 and 1000 kbps respectively. Low-speed chaptered selections are available in 3GP (for cell phones), MP4 (for iPods), Real Media (for dinosaurs), and WMVs (for everyone else), reaching resolutions from 160x120 to 720x480. Strictly for people on the go, I wouldn't bother with these low-speed videos unless you have absolutely no other option; like, say, you live with your grandmother, use her computer, can't afford an external hard drive and don't want her finding your hidden archive of hardcore Latina fuck movies. The scenes themselves are pretty generic hardcore sex scenes with one man and one woman getting to know each other. Sometimes they take place indoors, sometimes outdoors. Either way, though, they're really not all that interesting. The quality, too, is quite disappointing and, as I said earlier, the videos appear to have been shot on a pretty crummy camera. C'mon guys, have some self-respect! If you’re going to fuck women this potentially mind-blowing, at least make the effort to capture them (and yourselves) in a flattering light.

Although it only holds 26 galleries, the Pictures section fares a little better than the Video pages, at least in presentation. With nice, clear preview images, the number of pics, and the model's name, it shouldn't be too hard to choose a gallery or two to give a good once over. Each gallery page presents an average of 25 thumbnails that open in a Flash-based sub-window when clicked. Thankfully, the thumbnails lead to fairly nice images that flatter the subjects, coming through quite clear and vibrant, although with a definite amateur veneer. Resolutions are around 600x800 pixels and you can save an entire gallery by downloading a convenient zip archive; doing so will even provide you with larger images that reach 1600x1200 pixels and are much more satisfying. There are, however, two enormous downfalls to what are potentially a very satisfying group of photo galleries: gallery quantity and photo quantity. There are currently only 26 galleries online, and each one holds no more than 33 shots. Quite pitiful, really.

A 30 day membership to I Want Latina would normally set you back $29.95, but once again Mr. Pink has flown to the rescue and netted you, his beloved and faithful reader, a ten dollar discount that brings the monthly cost down to $19.95. Don't forget that your membership also entitles you to complete access to the rest of the Pornstar Network, which includes such well-known websites and pornstars as Lex Steele, Peter North, Christine Young, Bruno B Reloaded, Silverstone Digital, Load My Mouth, and Sperm Cocktails. There are 56 sites on this network that cover a fairly wide variety of hardcore porn niches; almost as expansive as the niches discussed on Mr. Pink's! How does I Want Latina stack up against other sites of the same variety? Read on, fellow Latinafan, and find out!

Pros:
- Members receive access to the entire Pornstar Network, which features some 56 hardcore sites, most of which are quite impressive.

- Design and navigation might not be particularly exciting, but it does the job well.

- Everything held on I Want Latina is exclusive and original to the site.

- If, after checking out the hot-blooded models, you’re not hitting up Expedia and looking into a South American jaunt, you’ll be in the minority – though not literally, at least not yet.

Cons:
- Hey, where are the updates? Nothing new has been added in months! Months, I tells ya!

- The model index covers the entire Pornstar Network, not just I Want Latina, making it a bit hard to find your perfect Latin lover.

- There’s no real information given on the models you’ll be jerkin’ your gherkin to and that’s a damn shame.

- Video quality is not that great and makes the content and producers look cheap.

Conclusion:
There’s nothing more tantalizing than a southern sojourn to a ‘Cabo’ or ‘Costa’ – hell, even a visit to LA’s Boyle Heights will suffice for those on a strict budget – allowing you to take in a few sights, sip a few margaritas, mack on a few Mexican babes. Unfortunately, such a vacation is out of the question for many of us working stiffs and we instead have to suffice with living vicariously through others, such as the proprietors and performers of I Want Latina. This site may feature some gorgeous Latin women doing unspeakably sexy things on camera (things that almost always involve penises and bodily fluids) but that’s just not enough to make I Want Latina a worthwhile cyber-destination. Sure, you get access to the complete Pornstar Network – a great place to spend a few dozen hours when you’re supposed to be working or cleaning the oven – but that’s about the most exciting thing your membership dues will get you. Maybe when the webmasters manage to add some new content, my tune will change, but for now I Want Latina is like that extra helping of refried beans: something you might want to consider passing on.
